From crippling arthritis to radiant health: one man’s extraordinary journey

December 21, 2011 1 comment

I was pleased to be involved with my good friend Adam Huber in producing his new book about his remarkable recovery from arthritis. Having got the condition myself, and knowing that one in five of us will experience it at some point, I was especially interested to know how he cured it. Doctors will tell you that you cannot cure it, and the common belief is that you just have to put up with it as best as you can. Not true. Adam found a cure, and this book explains how he did it. He has been free of arthritis for 20 years, and I can tell you that he is a lot fitter at 65 years old than most people are at 40.  Having been hiking with him recently, I know how hard it is to keep up with him!

If you have arthritis, or know someone who has it, this book could help a lot. Adam not only tells his story, but also describes the treatment in detail. Metabolic Therapy has been used to cure many other illnesses such as ALS and cancer as well. Check it out on his website. I did the cover illustration and the design work.

Here’s a longer description from a press release:

Red Toe, Red Door – how Metabolic Therapy cured my arthritis tells the story of one man’s 11-year struggle with unrelenting physical deterioration due to rheumatoid arthritis. It chronicles a personal journey from debilitation, pain and hopelessness, to physical and spiritual transformation, culminating in a powerful and dramatic healing that will instill renewed hope in anyone with chronic or acute disease.

Red Toe, Red Door reveals a triumph of body, mind and spirit over seemingly impossible odds—a must-read for anyone who suffers from arthritis (and some 20% of us will) or any other degenerative disease.

Adam Huber has written a refreshingly honest and practical account. Told by the medical profession that there was no cure for his disease and that he would have to take drugs for the rest of his life, Huber chose to fight back—with incredible results. Convinced that the drugs were poisoning his system and not helping at all, he embarked on his long quest for a cure, ultimately transforming his body and his life. His determination and focus led him to experiment with a wide range of modalities and diets, eventually bringing him, in 1991, to the red door that opened up to a remarkable healing process. He has been free of arthritis ever since. Huber takes us through that door, and provides details of the process so that others can benefit from it also.

Although this book focuses primarily on arthritis, it has broad implications for every degenerative disease. Based on the remarkable Metabolic Therapy that cured the author and many others suffering from so-called terminal conditions, it provides a blueprint for the reader’s own healing journey, with practical guidelines, suggested protocols and the hard-won wisdom that comes from personal triumph over adversity.

An excellent article about the Amazonization of our reading environment

I took a look at KDP Select, almost signed up for it, then backed out hurriedly when I realized what was going on and the implications for me and other writers. Here’s a great article that creates some perspective around the publishing situation today.

“Barely a month goes by now when the Seattle giant does not either outmanoeuvre a competitor or redefine a sector. Last week was a good example where it did both.

At the beginning of the week it bought 450 children’s titles—its first ever acquisition of a publishing list: bought in order to provide compelling, and exclusive, content for its tablet device Kindle Fire (to the inevitable cost of Barnes & Noble). At the end of the week it launched KDP Select, a service for ‘indie’ writers that locks them up in the Kindle-verse with the promise of ill-defined riches—further establishing its lending credibilities, while moving the goalposts for all other self-publishing companies.”

What is your view on this? Is this something that could benefit other countries as well? I’d love to know what you think.

An incredible speech by Stephen Lewis on HIV/AIDS and political duplicity

Should we call it murder? « P U L S E

From the speech: (click the link above for the full text)

Hiding behind the banner of the financial crisis, the donor countries have clearly decided that if budgetary cuts are to be made, the Global Fund can be among the first to go.”

What possesses the donor community to intensify the emotional and physical havoc?

Do they regard Africa as a territorial piece of geographic obsolescence? Do they regard Africans themselves as casually expendable? Is it because the women and children of Africa are not comparable in the eyes of western governments to the women and children of Europe and North America? Is it because Africans are black and unacknowledged racism is at play? Is it because a fighter jet is worth so much more than human lives? Is it because defense budgets are more worthy of protection in an economic downturn than millions of human beings?”

Flamenco energy

Have a lot of interest in Peace… an intentional choice. We anticipate it going to a business soon.

We’re now in the last couple of weeks of discounting work and creating fantastic bargains for anyone who is looking to buy my art. Do check the website for the remaining pieces that don’t have a ‘SOLD’ sign on them. Also, check out the life work in a variety of media and pastels in Art2Go – they are all large and make stunning pieces when framed well.

Flamenco, shown below, is one of the small number of oils we have left.

It’s 80 x 120cm, full of energy, and makes a great centerpiece for an exciting room!

ROI is dead – vive le Roi!

ROI is dead – vive le Roi! | Growing your Business articles | Bloggertone

“We have a great offering. We know what we’re doing. We’ll blow them away! Now, how do we promise—and then demonstrate—a fantastic return on investment?” There followed a pregnant pause. I felt it echoing throughout the digital agency/social consultancy universe. No-one seems to have figured this one out yet.

The uncomfortable vacuum was quickly filled as someone launched into an enthusiastic explanation replete with convincingly well-informed, up-to-the-minute expertise, peppered with disclaimers. Do we mention the disclaimers? I suppose we have to, but we’ll play them down. Will our competitors mention them? The meeting presses on with apparent confidence and unspoken doubts. Talk it up.  Read more…
